Social Studies -Ms Martin
6th Grade is currently working on Week 17-Life in Rome Part II-Additionally, they will be starting their "Cultural Boxes" at the beginning of next week.
7th Grade is in the Middle of a unit about Africa-Friday, February 8th we will be having Dr. Dumor, a native from Ghana as a guest speaker.
Additionally, the seventh grade students have been researching the African masks and what they represented. Mrs. Guffey and Mrs. Peery are assisting them with making a replica of the mask they researched.
8th Grade recently finished learning about The Revolutionary War and are currently reading about how America became a new nation under President George Washington.

Social Studies-January 2019
Sixth Grade- Week 13- Ancient India: Students are learning about the people of Ancient India-the Arya, and some of the religions of the world. Hinduism, and Buddhism are just a few example. We will also be covering the Maurya and Gupta Empires dating back to 321 B.C.

Sixth Grade- Studies Weekly#6. Life in Ancient Egypt.
The sixth grade class has been learning several aspects of the Egyptians way of life dating all the way back to 5,000 B.C. Mummies, Religion, and the Rosetta Stone are just a few examples what they have learned in the Studies Weekly online videos. Currently the students are working in groups of four to make a sarcophagus to display for Parent-Teacher conferences next week.
Seventh Grade-Chapter 5 Earth's National Resources
Seventh graders are learning about how people effect the environment and natural resources. Additionally, they are making a power point of a World Famous Landmark and will be drawing a detailed picture of it in Art class.
Eight Grade-Unit 2 Chapter 4 Life in the Colonies
The eighth grade class is currently creating a power point presentation on one of the major cities of the world. Additionally, they will be be researching colonial architecture and building a model of a colonial structure.
